We are looking for non-fiction writers researching and developing an original and compelling work with an Australian focus drawn from the broad fields of the humanities and the social sciences, particularly history, biography, climate change, science, technology, the arts and the environment. Projects should be creative, but must have a clear foundation in research.
Proposals exploring cross-disciplinary or cross-cultural perspectives across different fields of knowledge will be highly considered.
You will need to have a proven record of publication either in printed book or e-book form, chapters in edited works, paper(s) in refereed journals, peer-reviewed essays or extended articles or other appropriate forms of production.
You will need to be actively engaged in writing, bringing together, editing, or otherwise producing a significant piece of non-fiction research advancing towards publication.
Potential interest in the writing project by a publisher would also be highly considered towards the application.
ABOUT DR ANN MOYAL
This Fellowship has been established with a bequest from the late Dr Ann Moyal AM, FAHA, a leading Australian historian of science, technology and telecommunications, as well as a biographer and author. Dr Ann Moyal was an alumna of Varuna, and wanted to provide opportunities for other writers and scholars to enjoy the support and collegiality of a Varuna residency.
In 2016 Dr Ann Moyal was interviewed about her intentions in leaving the bequest.
