How much is the application fee for the program?         

There are no application fees for this program.

If I am successful, are there any fees for participating in the program?  

There are no fees for participating in this program. If you take up the offer of a Varuna residency you will need to pay a contribution fee of $350.

When will I be notified regarding the outcome?             

You will be notified of the outcome of your submission by email, and the fellowship recipients will be announced on our website in April 2024.

Will I receive feedback on my work?

Selectors do not discuss the selection process or offer individual feedback to unsuccessful applicants.

I do not have a complete manuscript yet. Can I still apply?         

No. Although you only need to submit up to three chapters, it is expected that you have a complete first draft of your work.

If I am successful, is publication of my work guaranteed?           

No. Although you could be offered a contract, there is no obligation for Left Bank Literary or UQP to do so. However, they do commit to providing feedback regarding your manuscript, and advice as to how to further develop your work for publication.

What if I've submitted my work to another publisher, and have not heard back from them?           

If you have made a submission within the last three months, then you are not eligible to apply. If you have made a submission to a publisher more than three months ago, and have not heard back, then we simply ask that you share this information with us on your application.

What if I have submitted my work to a competition?

Please just note this in your application and our assessors will respectfully and confidentially take this into consideration.
