The Western Sydney Intensive
We are excited to launch a new Fellowship this month, with a focus on stories and writers from Western Sydney.
The Western Sydney Intensive is a fortnight-long writing intensive program offering recipients focused writing support, reading sessions and feedback - including mentoring sessions with Dr Carol Major, as well as engagement with distinguished authors, Carrie Tiffany and Mark Brandi. Fellowship recipients also receive a welcome pack and facilitated daily writing sessions with writing teacher and poet Vanessa Kirkpatrick.
Varuna’s Creative Director Amy Sambrooke commented, “We are really excited to launch this pilot program for Western Sydney writers. The enthusiastic response from those who were selected for one of the 12 places has been wonderful.
“Many people living in Western Sydney have had a particularly rough time over the past few months of lockdown and we are keen to step in with some extra support to foster the development of these writers and help them reach their potential.”
Varuna continues to offer writers support and scope to develop their practice, regardless of setbacks. We are hopeful that this pilot program will develop into a continuing Fellowship for writers in Western Sydney.
