WRITERS SA FELLOWSHIPS
This opportunity for a one-week residency, including travel subsidy and manuscript consultation, is open to Writers SA members who are emerging writers and poets who live in South Australia.
In 2024 Writers SA are offering two Varuna fellowships: The SA First Nations Writers Fellowship and SA Emerging Writers Fellowship.
The SA First Nations Writers Fellowship is open to all Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander writers living in South Australia.
The SA Emerging Writers Fellowship is open to all writers living in South Australia who have yet to publish more than two full-length manuscripts or collections..
Applications will be judged by a panel of Writers SA staff, board and a South Australian Varuna alumni.
Each of these Fellowships include a week’s residency at Varuna, with full board and accommodation including a prepared evening meal, uninterrupted time to write in your own private studio, a one-hour mentoring session with a writing consultant, and the companionship of your fellow writers.

There is no application fee, and no program fees apply.
The recipients will receive $300 travel subsidies towards their travel expenses.

Applications are now closed. To apply in 2024, you will need to submit:
· your contact details
· the fellowship for which you wish to be considered (SA Emerging Writers Fellowship and/or SA First Nations Writers Fellowship)
· a brief bio (max 150 words)
· a statement addressing how the opportunity will benefit you (max. 250 words),
· a synopsis of your proposed project to be undertaken at Varuna (max. 1 page), and
· artistic support material (writing, illustrations, etc; max. 5 pages including links).
