Led by Vanessa Kirkpatrick participants will focus on a new topic each week, through discussion as well as through on-the-spot writing exercises, and consider key elements of creative writing including writing descriptions of place and people, dialogue, and point of view.
The course is aimed at people who have had an interest in creative writing and would like to explore it further as well as those who have previously done some writing but would like to be kick-started in developing a regular writing practice. Participants will generate new material that they can develop further in their own time.
The final session on 30 October will end with a reading session, from 4pm until 5.30, in which participants will have an opportunity to read from work they have developed during the course (if they would like to do so).
