Writing Master Class with Thomas Keneally

One-on-one time with Tom Keneally for feedback and coaching on their writing projects. It will be run over 3 x fortnightly sessions and is suitable for both unpublished and published authors. The venue is the beautiful Tom Keneally Centre at the Sydney Mechanics School of Arts. Starting from 19 March.

For Avant Gaga, I'll be reading from False Nostalgia, a poetry and poetics project about memory, identity and narrative. I've been developing the project over the last year with support from the Australia Council for the Arts and Varuna, the Writers' House. My reading will showcase some of the work produced during my JUMP mentorship with Ross Gibson and the Dorothy Hewett Flagship Fellowship for Poetry residency.

2014 Bristol Short Story Prize

2014 Bristol Short Story Prize is an international writing competition open to all published and unpublished writers, UK and non-UK based, over 16 years of age.
Stories can be on any theme or subject and entry can be made online via the website or by post. Entries must be previously unpublished with a maximum length of 4,000 words (There is no minimum). The entry fee is £8 (about 15 AUD) per story.
The closing date for entries is April 30th 2014.

2014 Nillumbik Ekphrasis Poetry Award

Poets are invited to respond to twelve artworks, in poems up to twelve lines long. First prize is $500 and the winning poems will be printed on postcards with their corresponding artwork. Hunter Writers Centre's 2014 Travel Writing Competition for NSW residents

Hunter Writers Centre is thrilled to announce the inaugural 2014 Travel Writing Competition for NSW residents. First Prize is 2 nights accommodation in a 2 bedroom luxury villa at Crowne Plaza, Hunter Valley. Runners Up will receive Gortex jackets from Kathmandu Outdoor Gear Suppliers valued at rrp$500 each.
