Joan Cahill's news

I know that you are always interested in even small achievements from Varuna Alumni so am writing to let you know that I have won the FAWN (North Shore Branch) 2013 award for Vibrant Verse (free verse) with my poem "Guitar Trek". It is published on their website.

This follows the Melbourne Poetry Union's 2012 Award for Urban Realism, so Peter Bishop (my mentor in 2007) might be pleased to know that I am alive and well, still writing and have had around twenty poems published with several winning awards. I am still an active member of the Booranga Writers' Centre at Charles Sturt University and we are about to host the local heat of the 2013 Poetry Slam.
